Tips for Getting Bibliography Information from Databases and e-book sources:

  • Ancient and Medieval History Online (Facts on File)
    • Copy and paste the Record URL (at the bottom) into the URL line in the notecard.
    • Scroll down to bottom of article. Copy and paste the Citation Information into the My Ideas box in your notecard.
  • SIRS Knowledge Source
    • When you are viewing the article, click in the web address bar at the top of the browser. Copy and paste the web address (URL) into the URL line in the notecard.
    • Click the Source button at the top or bottom of the article. Copy and paste the information into the My Ideas box in your notecard.
  • Gale eBooks (Virtual Reference Library)
    • Click the Bookmark this Document link at the top of the article. Copy and paste the URL into the URL line in the notecard.
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the article. Copy and paste the Source Citation information into the My Ideas box in your notecard.
  • Ebsco Host (Student Research Center)
    • Copy and paste the persistent link to this record at the top of the article in the URL line in the notecard.
    • Click on HTML Full Text link at top or bottom of article. Copy and paste the Title and Database information into the My Ideas section of the notecard.
  • World Book Online
    • Scroll down to bottom of article. Copy and paste the information under How to Cite this article into the My Ideas box in your notecard.
    • Copy and paste the URL given in this information into the URL line in your notecard.
  • Websites
    • Look around the website for an author. It may be a person or an organization.
    • Copy and paste the URL for the website homepage if you use multiple sections of the website. If you only use one page, copy and paste the URL of the page you use. You can have multiple notecards for the source, but only need ONE citation for the source.
    • For dates: copyright date, date last updated, etc.
    • DO NOT cite Google or Yahoo. These are search engines that lead you to websites. Cite the websites.
